NATURAL LIGHT, NATURAL LIGHT, NATURAL LIGHT!
Everyone wants those light, bright, white photos to make you just GLOW! Keep this in mind when choosing a venue/bridal suite. A window can make the difference between good photos and JAW DROPPING photos!! As a photographer - I will place you in the best spot for photos - SHADE IS YOUR FRIEND!
HAVE A DESIGNATED ORGANIZER!
Pick someone, that can be with you all day long, (coordinator, MOH, someone) that will be helping you stay on track, getting you the things you need, organizing first looks, etc. Let them take this off of your plate. It is my job to help with this as well, but my main focus is capturing the special moments.

BUILD IN EXTRA TIME TO RELAX!
Again, the day will be hectic. It will be overwhelming and exciting and emotional. You will need downtime worked into the schedule. 5 minutes here or there will make a world of difference. It will also give you a cushion if things start running behind. Make sure you take a moment to just sit and close your eyes and take deep breaths.
Make sure every essential person is on the same page. The bridal party has a copy of the timeline of the wedding day. Ask the officiant questions. Understand what is going on or have an organizer who does. Communication is key to a smooth, stress free wedding day!
HAVE A PLAN B/DOOSMDAY PREP
TRY NOT TO HAVE EXPECTATION
This sounds scary, but if you are prepared you can avoid so much panic and headache. Make sure to have plenty of backup plans. If you have an outdoor wedding, make sure there is a space indoors in case of bad weather. If someone's dress tears, have a sewing kit. If someone in the wedding party gets sick/has an emergency suddenly, have medicine or an emergency fill in. Ask previous brides if anything went wrong on their wedding day and find solutions to common issues.
Expectations can be such a fun sucker! I am so guilty of this. I always have expectations of how things should go and if it goes, even slightly, a different direction, it seems to throw off my entire mood. Avoid that if you can. Things happen. You can only plan for so much. Set your schedule, let someone else worry about keeping everything on track, and try to go with the flow!
BE NICE TO MOM!
Trust me, I know moms can get on our nerves. We have gotten on their's more times than they can count, I'm sure! Weddings can be overwhelming. Emotions are high. Schedules are stressful. So if you find yourself getting frustrated, take a deep breath, and give her a big hug! She loves you more than anything and she is feeling ALLLL the emotions. Happy, sad, proud, ALL OF IT! So, just be kind :)
Don't forget to BE IN THE MOMENT AND HAVE FUN!!!
Don't get so wrapped up in pleasing everyone else. The day is about you and your special person! If you need a moment away from the madness, IT IS OKAY. If you need to say no to unnecessary things, IT IS OKAY. Be in the moment. Breath it all in. This only happens once, so don't forget to stop and smell the flowers!
